Dreamweaver displays corrupted PNGs in some cirstances - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Png files are not x-browser. Never use them in a page (yet!) One of these days you'll be able to, but for now...forget it. Stick to gifs and jpegs. -- -- DiMa -------------------- WEB FORUM USERS: Please log on to the Newsgroup for quicker replies to your posts: news://forums.macromedia.com/macromedia.dreamweaver For Answers, check here first: http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=+group:macromedia.dreamwea ver http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/technotes.html http://www.projectseven.com/faqbase http://www.dreamweaverFAQ.com http://www.macromedia.com/support/forums/etiquette.htm DiMa Design > From Lines...to Designs http://www.dimadesign.net "c_peter" <webforumsusermacromedia.com> wrote in message news:bfbmcr$rog$1forums.macromedia.com... > I am creating some PNG files using the GD library and they seem to appear properly in everything except Dreamweaver (tried various browsers, paint programs etc.) ...

properly in everything except Dreamweaver (tried various browsers, paint
programs etc.) But in dreamweaver they are squashed to half the size and appear
in the wrong colour. I am using Dreamweaver MX. I have attached a sample of one
of the PNG files (except I had to rename it to .txt because Macromedia doesn't
like those eeeevil PNG files to be uploaded).

Ummm... I mentioned that the files work in a browser. I tried IE 5, Netscape 4.7, Mozilla etc. AFAIK the only place they don't work is Dreamweaver. Therefore the problem is with Dreamweaver.

Besides I am using the GD library which can only generate JPEGs (which are not suitable for this instance) and PNGs (not GIFs yet due to patent problems). Also this page will be on an intranet so I know it will be supported by all the browsers that will visit it.
