    Default Dreamweaver or GoLive?

Which web development software is best for Mac OS X - Dreamweaver or GoLive?
I'm trying both of them out but would like opinions, pros/cons, etc., before
    making such an investment!

    Thanks for any info!

Since you are trying both of them, I can state with certainty that the
one you like best is the best for you.

You won't find many people with an in-depth knowledge of both -- but
that won't stop them from having an in-depth opinion.

My shallow experience: I use DW because a couple of years ago GL (up
to/including v.5) was buggy on my OS 9 Mac, so I bought DW and it ran
fine. Thus, I didn't upgrade to the OS X version, and I don't know how
good it is. DW MX is still OK for my purposes, but it's a bit slow on a
    TiBook 667/1GB.

    >Which web development software is best for Mac OS X - Dreamweaver or GoLive?

I own, use, and teach both.

Of the two, i prefer GoLive, by a slim margin. The particular things I like
    about GoLive over Dreamweaver:

    - GoLive's interface is easier, at least for me. Particularly when working with
tables; selecting a single, empty cell of a table with a border of 0 in
    Dreamweaver can be aggrevating.

    - Dreamweaver has a number of bizarre little quirks about the way it handles
the Clipboard, such as: Hilighting a form and copying it to the Clipboard
copies all the elements inside the form, but NOT the FORM tag itself, so
pasting the form into a new document in one step does not paste the complete
form; hilighting a graphic and pasting it into a different document located in
a different directory in GoLive will change the path to the image, so that it
links correctly, but in Dreamweaver it won't (the old path is retained); and
hilighting and copying JavaScripts with dependencies will also copy the
relevant dependencies in GoLive, but not in Dreamweaver.

    - GoLive's site-management tools work a bit better, IME, than Dreamweaver's.

    - GoLive is better integrated with other Adobe products, such as Photoshop and
    Imageready.

    - GoLive offers dynamic previewing of effects such as rollover scripts.

    Things Dreamweaver has over GoLive:

    - Copying text with mixed font sizes, typefaces, and so on and then pasting in
a different place in the document will on rare occasion cause the attributes of
the first line of type to be lost (that is, it may appear in a default size,
    face, and/or color) in GoLive.

    - I like the tabbed interface of Dreamweaver.

At the end of the day, I've found that I'm more productive in GoLive than in
Dreamweaver. Your mileage can and probably will vary. I suggest you try both
    for yourself.

Thanks to you both for your responses - it was very helpful and I really
appreciate it! I'm finding myself more productive in GoLive as well, but
now I'm slightly concerned about how Adobe seems to be "dropping" support
for the Mac with their other software... I surely don't want to invest into
a program and then have it dropped at some point. This has already happened
with the music software I use and now I'm stuck!

    Anyway - thanks again!

Where did you get the idea that Adobe is dropping Mac support?

They just announced they were killing Premiere, for one. But I'm not
so sure it's Adobe gradually pulling out of the Mac market -- I think
they're just not willing to compete with Apple directly on a nice
product (competing with Final Cut Pro) for such a small market segment.
