With OS X 10.2.6, I just plug in my USB reader and it works. No driver was
needed. My reader is a Belkin which I bought for $17 at CompUSA recently,
but I don't think it should matter what brand it is, since USB is USB.

The Microtech readers still require drivers with 10.2.6 -
both the Cameramate and the very handy Zio! readers.

The Microtech site seems to be beyond just 'down' - I
    can't even ping their domain.

Try going to http://www.Versiontracker.com and searching for Microtech.
I believe you'll find the appropriate drivers there.

Assuming you need the 10.2 Jag version, I've got it, will email
separately. It's a small file 250K or so.

    Chuck,

Unfortunately, the driver isn't available through VersionTracker since
the download link there redirects to microtechint's now non-existent
site. Do you have the 10.2 Jag version of the Zio! driver? Would you
be willing to email it to me? Thanks much!

Wow. So I am not the only person who has a Microtech USB Cameramate. It's a
good doorstop. BTW, I have about half a dozen 6-in-1 readers, some of them
were less than 10 bucks. E.g., MicroCenter has one right now for $9.99 [i.e.,
    $10]. /PaulN

I don't know about you, but when I got mine, it was one of
only two, I think, USB cardreaders on the market.

What surprises me is that the Zio! requires drivers, too,
while all those silly "flash usb keychain drives" do not.

I have USB cameramate too. It worked fine in OS9, but I had to wait what
seemed forever for the OSX 10.2 driver. The OSX driver works fine by the
    way.

But if Microtech is gone, we unlucky Cameramate owners are stuck with an
unsupported orphan. We may indeed be up the creek every time the Mac OS
changes. For example, the OSX original driver worked in 10.1 but broke
in 10.2. For 10.3 we may again be dead in the water.
