    Default Drop Shadow & CYMK

Just did a job with a 4/c green process swatch. I had a solid block of this green on one part of page and a type headline in the same process color in another "open" part of the page.

The headline also had a black drop shadow behind it.

Job was printed and the solid block of green printed exactly right. The headline, however, came out a different shade of green (darker) and it looks a little strange although I don't think customer will notice.

Is there something I did wrong or is there a problem with InD's drop shadow routine with process colors?

    Thanks.

Could be none of the above. Did you talk to the printer about it? What
kind of workflow are they using? What kind of workflow are you using?
Did you send a PDF or native files? If PDF, how did you create it?

You may also want to check and make sure it's not perceptual. Cut a piece of just the green out of the header ( a hole punch works well for this) and place the dot of green on another area of green that isn't surrounded by black and see if it still looks like the color is shifted.

From InD I exported to the PDF X-1a for the printer (who's looking into it also at this time)...

It's not perceptual for sure; tried the suggestion of Heather's. Strange, the color key shows no dots at all in the headline (as does my InD sep view and the PDF sep view); but the black film definitely shows a black dot from the cymk green I guess...

Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro and check the separations preview there. If
that's fine, it's on the printer.

Thanks Bob. That's what I kinda thought. The seps look fine in InD AND the Acro PDF file.

Regards to all & thanks for input.
