Is it possible to copy the drop shadow settings from one box to another in any way?

Alex,
You can use the "object style".
1- create your drop shadow;
2- create a new object style;
3- apply this object style to an other box.

Check out the eyedropper tool. Doubleclick it to make the choices of
what to copy.
