Drop shadow settings?
I am working on a big print catalog project. The pictures are extremely flat. I need some drop shadows added. Does it make sense to do the drop shadows in Indesign or Photoshop. All my placed linked images are psd. I can always right click, edit and add the shadow in photoshop. I appreciate any info on this..

Re: Drop shadow settings?
You can do this either way. If you are working with a massive catalog, it may make sense to do flattened shadows in Photoshop to save InDesign or your RIP the work of transparency flattening. Try a test page either way to see if it affects your print time.
The pictures are extremely flat
Isn't this how printed photos are supposed to look?

Re: Drop shadow settings?
Not to discourage you from using the drop shadow effect, which is great, but maybe you need to adjust your levels in Photoshop to give it more pop. If the pix are uniformly flat, you can set up an action in PS and batch process them to fix the flatness, then just update your links in ID.
The drop shadow is another effect you can use, but it's not a fix for poor quality in the photo.
