Drop shadows in Acrobat 6 pro
Hi
Using;
InDesignCS + plus other CS software
Acrobat6 professional
windows 2000.
Since upgrading to Acrobat6 pro, drop shadows haven't printed correctly to our HP 50ps. The process I'm going through is writing a postscript from InDesignCS, distilling through Acr6 pro (compatibility 1.4 everything hires). Then placing the pdf back into InDesignCS to print to the 50ps. This system worked using InDesign2 and Acr5 (same compatibility as above). And also the drops showdows are fine if I export a pdf from InDesignCS.
I would like to continue to distill a postscript rather than export.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Wayne

"Then placing the pdf back into InDesignCS to print to the 50ps". What happens if you open the PDF in Acrobat Pro and print from there?
Cheers

Re: Drop shadows in Acrobat 6 pro
Hi Ian
Prints ok... The only problem is we like to fit as many pdfs onto a page to save paper.
Forgot to mention, its also prints out fine straight from InDesignCS.
It must be something in the placing into InDesignCS?

Re: Drop shadows in Acrobat 6 pro
Seems quite a lot of extra work when your Adobe PDF printer can produce 16 pages per sheet automatically. You could simple add in all the pages to make one PDF (one command I think) then print 16 pages per sheet (another command) to Adobe PDF to provide a composite scaled down multipage PDF that you can now print.
Actually, now I've writen down all the steps there's probably not all that much difference except of course the drop down shadow issue would be solved.
FWIW

Re: Drop shadows in Acrobat 6 pro
How do you create the ps file in indesign? Which ppd did you use?
Which distiller joboptions do you use in distiller when distilling the ps file?
What do you mean by do not print correctly?
What happens if you place the pdf into INdesign then print the INdesign file yet again to distiller? how does this pdf look like?

Re: Drop shadows in Acrobat 6 pro
Hi
ADIST4.PPD
Press Quality job.options (with Object Level Compression turned off)
The drop shadows contain a bright coloured glow around them. My colour space within InDesignCS is all CMYK.
The pdfs always look fine, it's just printing the distilled pdf through InDesign. Re-distilling the page and printing had no effect on the poor drop shadow.

Re: Drop shadows in Acrobat 6 pro
try using the adobepdf.ppd instead. The adist4.ppd is an old ppd file for Acrobat 4.

Same result unfortunately. I have emailed hp to see if they have had any similar problems. But I will keep trying different test.
