    If you're doing a normal DSL configuration, there should not be anything
    to do. You boot with DHCP enabled, are issued and IP address, and off you
    go - assuming you have a normal DSL setup with ethernet connection to an
    external DSL modem/router.

    Err, it's kinda important whether you have a modem or a router... if you're
    connected directly to a modem, you (in all probability) need to establish a
    PPPoE session (something the router takes care of if you have it.),
    including a username/password.

    Granted. The two are quite often 'bundled' together.
