    Hello.

I have been trained on UNIX in my local community college to do basic
administration and how to run DTrace scripts for my job. At the
college we had a SUN UNIX workstation connected to a SUN UNIX server.
I went to my job and everything was going well until it was time for me
to run my DTrace scripts to see if there were any bottlenecks in the
system as it seemed a bit sluggish.

I got a message in my shell stating "dtrace: command not found". I
went to check to see if AIX was listed on UNIX.org, and sure enough AIX
5L was listed in the Unix 2003 registered product list.

What am I doing wrong? AIX 5L is Unix 2003 certified so it is real
UNIX, so all the UNIX commands should work like dtrace.

A great tool for the job, yes.

But not for AIX. As far as I know, it's only available today for
Solaris. There's an effort to port it to FreeBSD being called "ktrace".
Perhaps that project might have something of use to you' it's all based
    on Sun's dtrace source code.

    Doesn't mean much...

    Doesn't mean a thing...

Nope. Anything not installed won't work. Anything not written can't
be installed. Unix certifications aren't really relevant in the real
    world.

    Hope this helps?

If you don't understand how to interpret that message, you certainly
will not understand the output of DTrace if it was available on AIX
    (it isn't).

Where in UNIX 2003 spec did you find that dtrace is a standard
command that must be present on all compliant systems?

    Cheers,

Yeah, there are enough of us Solaris---->AIX converts out there to work
through these issues. This was a troll, not a legitimate complaint.
