Dual installation of DWMX2004 and DW8 (incl ExtMgr)
Hi,
Is it possible to install Dreamweaver 8 on a computer where Dreamweaver MX
2004 is already installed such that:
1. The 2 installations of Dreamweaver are completely separate
2. Both versions of Dreamweaver (8 and MX2004) can be run at the same time
without interfering with one another
3. The Extension Manager for each DW version runs independently OR the
Extension Manager in DW8 is fully backwards compatible and allows
compilation and installation of DWMX2004 extensions as well as DW8
extensions
The reason I am asking is that I have a large extension suite in DWMX2004
that requires a considerable number of changes to be made due to the new
stylesheet and font rendering behavior in DW8 (as well as other minor
javascript and API issues). Both versions of DW need to be run at the same
time in order to compare visual and operational differences while I
gradually adjust my extension for DW8 to work in an identical manner to the
existing DWMX2004 version.
Please only reply if you have had first hand experience with this type of
dual DW installation as well as the issue of managing extensions (compiling
and installing) for both DW8 and DWMX2004 on the same machine.
Thank you.
