    Hi,
does anyone know a way to play the Director projector (full screen) on the
second monitor if the user has a dual-screen configuration?
    Thanks a lot.

the desktoprectlist reports the dimension of each monitor, with the
forst entry being the primary monitor, you can set rect of the stage to
one of the other monitor's rects to change position at run time.

    Default dual monitor

    Hi there:

I am trying out the new version of Director and when I try and drag the
seperate palettes from one monitor to another it won't let me. Is there a
setting in Director that will allow this. Photoshop and other programs allow it
    why not this one?

The tool windows can not be moved outside of the main director window. You
can stretch your director window across both monitors. Just grab the window
border and drag it. Then you can arrange the various child windows within
the main window on wither monitor.

    Hi,

I have dual monitor as well, and initially I had this problem.....

Click the partial screen button in the top right of the program (next to
minimise and close down buttons) to make Director partial screen. Then drag
the program onto your second monitor. Now use the arrow on the border of the
program to re-size the window, dragging across onto the second screen.....

You now have Director dragged across two screens which is a great set-up....

Having asked so many questions of others myself, I am pleased to have been
able to answer one for someone else....

    Best Wishes

This issue has been discussed before. The bottom line is that Director
(astonishingly) does not support dual monitors for authoring in the same way
that Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver and so many other programs do.

The idea of dragging the window across two monitors is useless because alerts
appear in the 'gutter', it is inadequate for dual monitor setups with different
resolutions, it doesn't allow you to float tool palletes over the desktop, etc.
It is just not the answer.

It is surprising that a development environment, such as director, doesn't
support dual monitors, especially when it is supposed to have a familair MX
user interface, and yet it lacks this basic functionality that other MX
applications do have. I would love to know why.

This is a Windows only problem. You can run dual, or more, monitors on
a Mac running Director and all will work as expected. I have no idea
what the problem is with the Windows version.

What do you mean 'The idea of dragging the window across two monitors is
    useless ' ??????????????

It is NOT useless, as it works PERFECTLY well on my machine. There are no
    errors !

It IS the answer, (I'll admit that I have not tried it where each of the
    monitors has different resolutions)

But I did provide a proper and genuine answer, and until you have some round
my house and told me my eyes are deceiving me, please don't label my ideas to
    help others as useless........

    Thankyou.

i am using director on an OS X machine, and I keep the stage on one monitor and
move the cast and score to the second monitor, and my main screen is 1280x1024
and the second is set at 1024x768. Works fine for me, but it might be because
I am not on a windows machine, don't have dual screens on my pc yet...:-)

    Hi Toolman21,

I don't have each monitor at different resolutions, but mine is a PC (running XP).....

So I guess that makes two of us useless aye Questy ????

There are two ways that someone can configure a dual monitor.
The one is from the driver it's selft and make a double resolution
    (1024x2)x1024
In this way director can not have any problem

The other way is to use the WindowsXp double monitor, that use actually
    2x(1024x1024)
well is like to have two desktops. In this case some programs have problem.

    Hi all,

Whilst I'll admit that this reply is off-topic from Director, it is on topic
    for dual monitor support.....

I also like playing computer games, however many of them crash as they try to
play on monitor 2 instead of monitor 1 and they struggle.....and struggle....
then usually pop up an error box.

Does anyone know if there is a little program which can sit somewhere (like
near the clock in the lower right) where you can return your set-up to 1
monitor, or choose to have 2 monitors at the click of a button ?????

It would be nice to turn my set-ups using 2 monitors on and off at will
(pressing the off button on monitor 2 does not achieve this !!!!)

    Thanks all,

    Daniel
