    Default Dumb Newbie Questions....

Ok, so I got a copy of 5.1 running on a Toshiba Tecra 8000... sort of ....

It won't recognize video over 640 x 480 or the sound system.... I went to
the manufacturers website and found no support offered.

I'm guessing the answer would involve sudo get, but I don't know where to go
    from there.

    HELP!

You need to provide more details if you really want an answer to a question.
Post things like output from lspci. If I have to do the research on your
    computer I am
less likely to offer contructive help.

Have a look at your /etc/X11/xorg.conf in your favorite editor.

Then play with google : it might just be you need to allow higher resolutions.

The easy generic option for the video problem is:

    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Poke around synaptic to find the right audio. I got mine working through
experimentation. Of course, as a dumb newbie myself, I didn't take
notes. Stick with it. It's well worth the effort once it's all working.
