    Default Duotones in Illustrator CS?

Is it possible to set up a duotone in Illustrator CS? I am looking to set Pantone 123 as my spot color and want to apply certain percentages of black to it to create shades. Is there a way to do this without converting the 123 to CMYK and changing the black? If I do that, CS compensates for the color I am trying to create and does not maintain the correct percentages of black.

    Illustrator cannot do multi-inks.

You will need to dupe the object on top, set it as a second color and either set it to multiply or overprint. (you can also use the appearance palette to make a live effect for the duped object.)

    Or, you can us InDesign.

Thanks John. That is where I ended up, but was not sure if the multiply layer would create any postscript confusion. thanks!
