Default DW CS3 Extension Manager does't work

On my current computer I have 3 versions of Dreamweaver currently all installed
at once. This might be the issue right away but I tend to like to keep the old
versions of stuff if I can just in case a site has to be opened in it's
original version...This might be what is causing the problem but I am not sure
so I thought I would reach out for some help and see...I currently have
Dreamweaver MX 2004, Dreamweaver 8, and Dreamweaver CS3 (also referred to in
one location as Dreamweave 9). The problem I am having has to do with
extensions...When I try to install any it into CS3 it gives me the following
set of errors and issue:.

When I try to install any of the extensions I have downloaded I get the
following errors: First a message comes up that says, "The extension conflicts
with the existing extension. The installation files for these extensions have
the same name. Do you want to replace it?" If I say yes it says, "The
extension is used by another product. It cannot be removed but can be
disabled. Do you want to disable it?" If I say yes then the screen just goes
back to the Extension Manager but it still does not list any extension as being
installed.

After disabling the extension in the previous steps, if I try and install it
again I get the following messages: "The same version is already installed do I
want to replace it?" When I say yes it says "The extension is still being used
by another product and it cannot be removed". This happens in all versions of
Dreamweaver I have but when I open the extension manager in any of these
versions there are no extensions listed in the extension manager as being
installed.

Another issue is there are different folders where the extensions go when
first downloaded from the Adobe web site and I am wondering if this is at the
root of the problem... Sometimes they go to Program Files\product name
folder\configuration\ExtensionData\MM but then sometimes they will go to
Documents and Settings\ Application Data\Adobe\Extension
Manager\Configuration\Extensions OR sometimes they will go to Documents and
Settings\ Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\configuration\extensions (yes
the folder is named Dreamweaver 9 not CS3).

I hope there is someone out there who can assist me with getting all f this
taken care of so that I can install the extension I need and NOT reinvent the
freakin' wheel.

Is there anyone out there who has any advice that is willing to help? I am in
need of getting this project done and I am at the pulling my hair out mode now,
the cutting mode will start in about 24 hours if I can't figure it out myself
hahaha...

Anyway, any assistance anyone can provide would be highly appreciated!

Thank you,
Jen

If no extensions are listed and you know that you have installed extensions in any of your DW versions, then you may have to reinstall Extension Manager for CS3, and maybe reinstall Dreamweaver CS3 after an uninstall.

You can get previous versions of Extension Manager here:
http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/

Note: Any of the v1.x versions of Extension Manager will overwrite any other v1.x installed version. That is if you install 1.7 and then install 1.8, the 1.8 will overwrite 1.7, and you can only run the 1.8 version. V2 and above allows previous versions to run as well as the new version. However, you can only use v2 with the CS4 products and not earlier products.
