DW MX 2004 publish to IIS6 w/FPSE 2002
I am having problems getting MX2004 to "put" files on our Intranet.
I need to enable both Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Frontpage 2002 to publish
content on a Intranet web site on Windows 2003 server using Frontpage Server
Extensions. There are no problems when I use Frontpage 2002/2003. Dreamweaver
MX 2004 can connect to the Intranet and "get" files. Therefore a local copy of
the Intranet web site can be retrieved. However it is unable to "put" files
back onto the Intranet web site.
The Intranet is hosted on Windows 2003 server SP1. The server is a member
server in an AD domain. Running IIS 6 with Frontpage 2002 server extensions
5.0.2.6738. All web sites extended. The Intranet website is enabled for
Anonymous access, Integrated Windows Authentication and Basic Authentication.
The publishing software (Dreamweaver and Frontpage) is run from a member
workstation running XP SP2. The "Publish Web" extension is installed in
Dreamweaver to interface with the FPSE on the web server. The user is logged
onto the workstation with a domain account. The same account is configured with
the administrator role for the Intranet web site. These credentials are used in
setting up the site definition connection in Dreamweaver.
The error that appears when you attempt to "put" files back onto the Intranet
web site is:
"The desired action could not be completed because an unexpected client/server
communication error occurred"
Note: There is no problem when using MX2004 to publish to FPSE on Windows 2000
w/IIS5.

Re: DW MX 2004 publish to IIS6 w/FPSE 2002
My setup checks OK against what is described in that article. Note using
Frontpage 2002 or 2003 has no problems. Therefore it must be something
particular to the way DW interacts with the web server.
Do you know if DW MX 2004 does work with IIS6 with FPSE on Windows server
2003. I also replicated the problem on my home machine using VMWare to simulate
the environment ... but then I would have set up the server in the same way as
I had set up the company Intranet.
