DW Template and pop up menu

Default DW Template and pop up menu

I have a weird problem. WHen i make a template, and i insert some images and
then give the pop up menu behaviours to the images, it works. after I save as
template and make new html based on the templates, it is still ok.

Now the problem is, when i go back to the template to make alterations so that
it can be updated to the HTML, I can no long use the pop up menu behaviour. I
can insert an image, but then I go to behaviour, the pop up menu option is not
available.

DW's pop-up menus are not compatible with DW Templates. It's unfortunate
that you chose this method in the first place. Is it too late to
reconsider? There are other much better methods....

It's unfortunate that those are the people who are most often trapped in
this pop-up hell.

The better methods are taught here -

http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/navigation/snapmenus/index.htm

or

http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/navigation/auto_hide/index.htm

and here's an example you can analyze -

http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/autolayers/

You can use their free extensions to create these menus.

There is also a nice tutorial here -

OK, guess it worked on the download with my MAC.

However, I went back into the template i was editing, to create that pop-up
menu, but Sudio 7 will not let me. An I unable use this feature with an
existing temple, because it was not created when I had studio 7 installed?

I does not make sense?

If you want simple, buy one of the commercial products. If you want to
avoid the DW/FW pop-up menu problems, you need to either buy something else
or run through the tutorials. By the way, the best way to get support on
the PVII products is to use their support forums at -

news://forums.projectseven.com/pviiwebdev

However - tell me what problems you are having and I'll see if I can suggest
something.

Thank for your help. I will refer to the forums on their website.

It only that I did not expect the process to be so confusing. I am used to
using dreamweaver pop-up menu, and now that i have a third party program, it
seems even more confusing.

What type of other commercial products are there that I could purchase, and
how do they relate in simplicity to the version I am trying?

thank you.

It's an NNTP forum, so you wouldn't use the browser - you'd use a
newsreader, like OutlookExpress or Entourage.

It's not rocket science, but if you have never thought about such things it
could be a little daunting. In the scheme of things, however, it's HTML 101
level stuff (OK, maybe 102 level)....

Yes, Sudio 8 from Macromedia. When I viewed the online clip, they mentioned
something about pop-up/drop-down menu's. I am thinking maybe I should upgrade.
I am just very tired of trying to make this pop-up menu.

And I do appreciate all your help.

FW8 will build menus that are better than the ones in FWMX2004, but far from
perfect. However, they will not get you into the same pickles that the
FWMX2004 ones do.
