I've been having a regular problem over the last couple of weeks. I have a site
created and edited with Dreamweaver 8 which uses tempates. It has Contribute
compatibilty enabled, and currently one user using Contribute to edit certain
pages.

Over the last couple of weeks I have found this to be happening regularly: I
am working on a page, saving & putting it at intervals (using ctrl-shift-U),
and previewing on the remote server. Then suddenly on one particular put, it
will hang on the status message 'Connected to [site name]'. I can cancel it but
occasionally it still hangs, and I have to do an End Task. Even if it cancles
okay, if I try to reconnect, it just hangs again.

Sometimes, when I cancel it, I get this message:
'The file required for Contribute Compatibilty does not exist. Would you like
to turn off Contribute compatibilty?'. I usually click No.

Usually, closing DW and restarting it clears the problem, but sometimes it
doesn't, hanging on the message 'Connected to [site name]'. Rebooting the PC
usually works but it seems a bit extreme.

On the last incident, a few minutes ago, I got this message:
'This site has been set up for use by Contribute users. Do you want
Dreamweaver to enable all required settings site settings for compatibilty with
Contribute sites?'. I clicked Yes and it is currently working for the time
being, but this has happened before, and and I continue to have problems.

I am working to a deadline, and this problem has really slowed me down as well
as causing major stress. Can anyone suggest what is causing the problem and
what can I do to resolve it?

Thanks

Andy
