Easiest CFMX and Web Server configuration
I'm developing a demo application which uses a web server as its controller.
Since I am on windows xp, using the built-in IIS, I can not have more than 2-3
users connected to my IIS simultaneously without getting the error "Too many
users are connected to your web server".
Since I can't install Windows 2003 server on that machine, my obvious solution
was to look for a web server instead of IIS, so I stumbled onto Tomcat.
Since there are at least three different types of installations for CFMX, I
wanted to ask which one I should pick if I only want a web server that is not
limited by the amount of users accessing it and is capable of running CFM
pages. I noticed there is a "Server Configuration", a "Multi-server
configuration" and a "Developer Server". Since the Developer server clearly
states it is limited in the amount of users that can access it I'm left with
the other two options.
One other dilemma I had is whether I chose wisely by going for Tomcat and
CFMX. Is there a better alternative to IIS than Tomcat?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Easiest CFMX and Web Server configuration
Tomcat is not really a web server. It is a Java application server. The same
folks make Apache, which IS a web server.
Unless you have a pressing reason otherwise, you're probably best off
downloading and running Apache and then Installing CF -- configured to run on
Jrun (which it ships with). Forget about Tomcat unless your sure you need it
for some other reason.
Apache will not limit your users like IIS.

Re: Easiest CFMX and Web Server configuration
First of all, thx for taking the time to answer.
Second, I'm a windows guy, until that user limit on IIS I really liked it. So,
can you plz tell me if im correct by saying that I will download Apache for
windows (web server), install CFMX in multi-server configuration (which
includes JRUN the application server), and then I will be able to connect
multiple users to the box?

Re: Easiest CFMX and Web Server configuration
Hi Visualmaster,
I don't think IIS limits the amount of connections you can have and the>on windows xp, using the built-in IIS, I can not

limit on WinXP pro is 10 connections. This sounds like the problem might
be that you are using the developer version of CF, which does limit you
to connections from 2 IP addresses only.

Re: Easiest CFMX and Web Server configuration
That's almost correct, install CF after Apache.
Configure CF to be the 30 day trial edition or use a paid license.
Configure CF to use it's internal server (Jrun). Forget about multi-server
configuration for now.
The developer edition doesn't expire but does limit to two IP's. The trial
edition doesn't limit IP's but does expire in 30 days.
I don't know about IIS limits (except for the numerous security and usability
flaws) but Apache has none.
Good luck,
