East sp question for the experts - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Hi! If I have a sp that consists of an update statement followed by a select statement, why does it not return anything? Anyone got a simple example? Thanks...

    If I have a sp that consists of an update statement followed by a select
    statement, why does it not return anything? Anyone got a simple example?

    the select statement. Now you COULD use NextRecordset in your client code to
    get the second recordset. However, a better technique is to use SET NOCOUNT
    ON at the beginning of your stored procedure. This will suppress the
    informational message thus improving the performance of your procedure.

    Return anything to what?

    Try issuing SET NOCOUNT ON at the beginning of the procedure. Aside from
    that, you're going to have to give us more details.
