I've forwarded the header info and message text to [email]support@macromedia.com[/email]. They should be able to just cancel this guy's account,
but I'm not sure...

[email]support@macromedia.com[/email] shouldn't go anywhere... likely a dead address,
for predictable reasons.

We can have some staffer pull messages after they're posted, once on the
newsgroup side and then again on the webpage side, but that's (a)
expensive and (b) useless against further propagation (Google Groups,
local ISPs, eg).

These forums were deliberately not set up to require authentication --
the goal was to make it accessible to all, without membership or proven
identity. That's why, even if there were a predictable IP address, such
messages can't be blocked.

If you know a spammer, you're welcome to kick them heartily in the shins
for me, but other than that ignoring the stupid messages is the best I
see, sorry.

Ah. I saw it listed as the "Send complaints to:" address, so I figured that's what it was there for. I can understand why it would
be too much trouble to go after these people. However, if they started getting REALLY virulent, 10-20 posts a day, for example,
maybe with binary attachments, crossposted up the wazoo, and any number of other offenses, I'd imagine action could be taken? I've
seen it happen in other (non-macromedia) groups, and the ISPs were generally very understanding, and swift in their delivery of
justice to those who seriously abused their services...
