Edit problem

We have been editing our homepage for some months in Contribute 3:

Suddenly, with no substantial changes having been made, and no changes to the
one script on the page, the Edit button will not respond. All other pages are
still capable of editing.
The page validates as html 4.01 for everything but a handful of missing "alts".
There is no lck file on the server.
The only other noteworthy thing - maybe - is that I overrode the Contribute
check-out in Dreamweaver, but then Dreamweaver offered that possibility.
All ideas are welcome.

I'm using Contribute for the first time and dying a death on it.

I've managed to get the web page I want to edit to open within Contribute.
Then I click on 'Edit page' at the top and the frame page then goes blank.
Apparently the web page is supposed to appear in a draft format so that I can
edit it. Unfortunately when I do it, the web page disappears to be replaced by
what looks the frame it is supposed to appear in but with no web page sitting
in the middle.

Anyone ????

what language is the page?

Do you see any yellow shield like symbols on the page?

Does the page have a template applied?

Do you have any templates set up?

Were you given Contribute(CT) by someone who knows how to use Dreamweaver(DW)?
