I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I am editing a site I own
created by a professional design firm hosting my company's site. I have made
many simple text changes using Dreamweaver, but I am attempting to update a
paragraph on the home page that has been created in Photoshop and exported to
ImageReady for optimization. The page is in PHP. I asked for and received the
original PSD file with layers. (I'm sure they are expecting me to either screw
this up or admit I need them to take care of it for me.)

I made the edit in Photoshop and opened the file in ImageReady. I did an
optimized save as and got the file formated as .html along with the associated
sliced image files. As I was preparing to update the remote server I noticed
the sliced jpgs in the image folder were ok, but the main file (index.php on
the remote server) would be replaced by my new file, which was index.html so I
stopped for fear of not having it link properly.

Can I simply change the html file (index.html) to index.php and update the
server or will that break the page because of the extra code that is supposed
to be added to the php file? Is there a way to get imageready to output a .php
file?

Should I redo the edited .psd file in Fireworks? Does it output php files?

I appreciate everyone's help. Thank you in advance. As I learn more - I have a
long way to go - I'll repay the favor to other newbies.
