Editing any page for review loads home page
:confused;
One workstation somehow always jumps to the home page of our intranet whenever
ANY page sent for review is attempted 2 b opened for editing by this reviewer.
Tried uninstalling Contribute 3, clearing every mention of Contribute from the
registry rebooting, reinstalling Contribute 3, rebooting & re-installing 3.1
update.
However, Login that was saved previously was still remembered & the same
problem of always jumping to the home page of our intranet no matter what page
is sent for review when it is attempted to be edited continued.
So, obviously, there is information saved somewhere (assume in Web Publishing
Services somewhere?) - or in the registry without involving "Contribute"?
However, When I log in as this person on my own workstation I can edit any
page sent for review normally (which I thought made storing this corruption on
WPS on the server unlikely).
The page sent for review DOES initially appear on this defective workstation
as the page is initially opened. It only jumps to the home page when the page
is attempted 2 b opened for editing.
Unfortunately, EVERYONE has to send to this person for review (she corrects
our language usage) - So, effectively this language check is out of the loop
(unless we manually work directly via e-mail).
I thought of deleting the user & recreating her - but the e-mail address will
still b the same - so, I strongly suspect the corrupted correlation will just
be "remembered" (as the saved login was).
I changed the ownership back to the senders to enable them to continue working
on pages sent to this corrupted workstation for review since neither the source
or destination could work with these pages.
Somehow the home page was originally appearing for review at this "funny"
workstation - but was not accessible - so, I deleted it from within Contribute.
I've noticed .lck (assume "LOCK") and .new (assume the draft) are being
created on the server as files are being worked on. (I've had to rename .new
files to "publish" files that refused to publish - with only 1 person busy
working on these) - but this was not the case for this funny workstation. No
default.asp.new or .lck on the network?
I'm confused??
Any suggestions, PLEEEEZ?
Is there possibly somewhere on the workstation that I need to wipe besides the
Macromedia directory & somehere in the registry where settings are stored with
mentioning Contribute?
I suppose formatting would work - but I'd obviously prefer not to.
Thanx 4 your patience ploughing thru all this.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
BTW - Our administrator mistyped my e-mail address when registering - most
people in our organisation's e-mail addresses use firstnameFirstLetterofSurname
(i.e. alanh@armscor.co.za) but this e-mail address was abused by spammers since
it appeared on our Web site, so my actual e-mail address is
alanholm@armscor.co.za if you need to ask further questions.

Re: Editing any page for review loads home page
No response after a week!
Anyway, eventually worked around this weird issue - after changing the name to
initials only & changing the e-mail address & Contribute role.
Even rebuilding the PC didn't help.
Still can't understand how I managed 2 work normally while logged in as the
problem user on my own PC (when the name, e-mail & role were still unchanged)?
