Default Editing Flash from Director - doesn't work?!

    Can anyone help...please?

Apparently if you double click the Flash element (swf) in Director it will open the Flash editor in Director where you can make your changes to the .fla and son on...you have round trip editing...BUT when I do this I get an error message saying "There is a problem launching the external editor. The external editor is not configured properly or there is not enough disk space...". There has to be enough disk space because the computer is very new and way more than I need.

So, how am I supposed to configure the external editor? what exactly does it want? (everything is MX by the way so there shouldn't be a compatability problem, and I have tried reinstalling Flash).

I've got tones of elements that potentially may need adjusting, and this would realy speed things up...!

    Hi Lucy,

In most cases, uninstalling then reinstalling flash and director mx should
fix the problem. Make sure that Flash MX is the current editor for Flash
files via Edit>Prefrences>Editors and make sure that 'use external editor'
    is checked.

    Hi Mike,

I 've reinstalled both Director and Flash, and changed the editor preferences (but it could only find Flash 6.0 r25), and now it does bring up Flash but although the file is named correctly it is empty and all my contents are gone. Also it doesn't have the little "editing from Director logo" that it's apparently supposed to have.

Shall I keep re installing Flash untill the Director Editor Preferences can find "Flash MX"?

Also does Flash 2004 work with Director MX? if it does so better than Flash MX will I have to upgrade my Flash maybe...?
