Editing Java and JVM settings trashes server (ColdFusionAdministrator messes up jvm.config file)
I just spent 2 hours trying to get a server running again after it inexplicably
crapped out after editing the "Java and JVM" section of the administrator (then
attempting to restart ColdFusion). It turns out that the ColdFusion
administrator overwrites the jvm.config file with the wrong paths and the
server cannot restart. You have to manually edit the jvm.config file to fix
this.
Luckily, Steven Erat documented the problem on his blog (which is the only way
I figured it out):

I'm running ColdFusion 7.0.1 (hot fix 1?). Does anyone know if this has been
fixed in 7.0.2? If not, why hasn't it? This is a major bug.

yeah i blogged this as well quite awhile ago. CFADMIN is totally
flakey. As for 7.0.2.. i think it is supposed to be fixed now but..
its always a good idea to manually edit the JVM for many reasons.

There is also a
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=a604060d for this
problem. The issue is currently being looked at by engineering. However, I'm
not able to give you a timeframe as to when this will be fixed.
