Editing text file (.txt)
I have two different web servers I connect to via Contribute 2. Contribute
only occasionally will "open" a text file on the remote server (and by "open",
I mean Contribute displays the screen saying file cannot be opened in
contribute, click EDIT to open in external editor.
This happens both when I type the specific URL of the txt file, and when I use
Contribute's "Choose..." button to navigate the directory hierarchy.
Contribute always sees the file in the directory view (via "Choose..." button,
but only sometimes lets me edit it.
IF Contribute will let me edit the file, it opens fine in my configured
external editor (either TextEdit or Dreamweaver MX 2004 on Mac), and changes
that I Publish are saved to the remote server.
My problem is that Contribute only sometimes will let me open a .txt file...
I'm trying to write instructions for a client (who's web site I manage), to be
able to edit a .txt file on his server that holds information other web pages
pull from.
Thanks,
Dave Manley
