Default Elevating permissions for Web service running on IIS6/Windows Server 2003

I have a Web service hosted in IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 that needs to
write to the application event log. The default permissions prevent this.
I know there are number of ways to fix this, but I'd like to know what the
recommend best practice is for managing permissions.

Default Re: Elevating permissions for Web service running on IIS6/Windows Server 2003

    Hi,

Is far as I know, you can write to the Eventlog with the default account
(Network Service) under IIS6. You problem might be that you didn't register
the event source. This should be done when you install your application (msi
or installutil with an install class for event log.)
