Default eMac on a PC wireless network

    Howdy,

My daughter's college roommates are all PC users. They have a wireless
network and my daughter wants to join the network with her eMac.

Should she be getting an Airport or Airport Extreme wireless network
    card?

Are there PC wireless cards that work just as well?

Will she have any problems joining the PC network?

    Thanks

That depends on the specific eMac model your daughter has. The newer
models (released less than a year ago?) takes an Airport Extreme card.
The older ones a standard Airport card.

A number of cards are compatible, but you can fit neither PCMCIA nor PCI
    cards in an eMac!

There should be no problem, unless the PC network uses 802.11a equipment
or WPA encryption (which Apple doesn't support yet).

Just a quick question for clarification:
I'm working with something of the same situation. I have an eMac running Mac OS X (10.1.4), 256 MB memory and a PowerPC G4 processor; Is this one of the "older" models that needs the standard Airport card?
