Email filled-in form?
I am new to Acrobat and created a fill-in form in Acrobat 6.
All I would like to happen is to send someone this form, have them fill it out and then have them email the form back with the information. Some people have no access to a fax, thus email is best. They would need to print one copy for themselves, but saving the form is not nessessary.
At the moment, the form with the fill-in information is coming in blank, just original form.
People will be using Reader only to fill in form, then email it back.
Is there a solution? Does Acrobat only allow email of original form and not the places that are to be filled in?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Email filled-in form?
No, this is not viable with Reader. You need to submit the form data,
not e-mail.

Re: Email filled-in form?
OK...I added a button - submit form. Tried it out, but it still sends the fill-in info blank. Just the original form sends.
Am I missing a step?
Thanks

Re: Email filled-in form?
Did you write a web script? The submit button must have a submit
action, which gives the URL of the script.

Re: Email filled-in form?
No, I did not write one. I guess this may be over my head. I do not know how to write web script.
The form is not on a web page, I just wanted to send a form via email to people, and have it emailed back with the fill-in infomation.
Like everything else, we want things to be easy!
I see, there are a few hoops to jump here.
Any suggestions?

Re: Email filled-in form?
It really isn't that easy. Submitting means sending to a web server -
just like an HTML page.

Re: Email filled-in form?
OK, So I have a client who wants a "fill in" booklet. 36 pages. They want to email that out to different Chapters of their organization to have the membership information inserted, then emailed back. Are you telling me that this is going to be impossible to do as just an email form?

Re: Email filled-in form?
So really, the best solution is having a fill-in page on one's website and submitting that?
I can see that this is not a database and storing that fill-in info so as to email back is not able to do so thru Reader only. Especially since the info is not saved.
Is there any other solution other than web page?
Thanks

Not impossible if everyone buys Acrobat, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Submit, don't e-mail.

It doesn't have to be on the web site, but it might as well be.

Re: Email filled-in form?
I have just been playing with this myself after discovering that the ability to save a form in Reader requires the LiveCycle system. In my tests it does work to have the form data emailed to you, though not the form itself. I created a button with the action to submit a form. Set it to only submit the FDF data (it won't work from Reader if you set it to submit the PDF form) then for the url use a mailto such as mailto:xxx@yyy.com. On my system (10.3.9 using Entourage) this created an email message with the data file attached. The attached file can then be imported into blank copy of the form or one or more data files can be processed into a comma-delimited file to be opened in a spreadsheet or database.
Someone with more experience might be able to poke some holes in this, but it worked for me in a limited test.
