Default Embedded font problem on XP

    Hi,

We have created a Projector in Macromedia Director MX (9) which will be run at
an exhibition as an interactive quiz. We are testing it on a brand new PC
running Windows XP SP1 with only the basic software installation (factory
    installation, basically).

The Projector includes several embedded fonts - several Truetype fonts and
several Adobe Type fonts. This setup has been working fine on my Windows 2000
development system at work and on my Windows XP SP1 system at home. We have
tried it on another XP SP1 machine in the office and that too exhibts no
    problems.

However, we are noticing that when we run the Projector on the brand new PC
the fonts are displaying incorrectly. What's worse is that closing and
re-running the Projector can cause fonts that were displaying correctly before
to display incorrectly and vice versa - it appears to be totally random!

We are logged on to the XP machine as Administrator so this problem does not
seem to be linked to the old classic problem with Director, fonts and non-admin
    users.

We have checked the Windows\System32\ directory and the .FOT files are being
created when the program runs. However, the number of .FOT files created is
inconsistent - sometimes 2 and sometimes up to 9! We have no idea why this is
and it is definitely not what we would expect.

We've solved the problem by copying the actual fonts onto the OS and telling
the Projector to use them instead of the embedded versions. However, this is
not going to be an option for a product that is distributed to users (one font
    cost us ?250).

Have any of you ever come across this problem? As I said before, I'm well
aware of the admin issue with fonts but this does not seem to be related
considering we have full administrator rights.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Default Re: Embedded font problem on XP

Have you have try clean your temporary path ?
Many times I have notice that some fonts from director is write them on temp,
and then never cleared and the problems with the embedded fonts starts.

Also do you have change the font name when you embeded it ?

Usually director put and asterisk "*" near that font. I totally change the
name to be soure that I do no mistake when I select the font on the text.
So you have must be soure that you have not a conflict font - and be soure
that you select the embedded new name font on the text that you have type.

    Take care
