    Your Windows XP CD ROM is your start-up disk, as it contains all the tools
    you need to repair an installation.
    To backup see the Help and Support
    (Start ... Help and Support) and enter Backup as the search criteria.

    The Windows XP CD itself is bootable and is a Startup Disk.
    It has all the necessary tools to repair XP in the event of an
    unlikely failure. However, you can make your own bootable
    floppy disk if you so desire:
