    Default Encrypt and the # character

    Encrypt a datafield to put it in a database table using a cfquery results in an error when the first character of the encryption is an ' # '.

    You could always add a character that you know is valid to the front. ie: A.
    Then when you decrypt you would just remove the first character. In the case of
    an MD5 type encryption, add an A to the front of the string you're checking
    against the encrypted string.

    If you use the <cfqueryparam> tag, this should remedy your problem. I had the same problem with ticks and double quotes, and the use of this tag fixed them.
