encryption Help
Is there any way, besides making one big movie and saving it as a projector to keep your movies from someone else being able to open them in Director and seeing you work? I have a a lot of short movies (so my disc will load faster) and a stub projector. But anyone I give a disc to who has Director can get my codes and Ideas. What can I do?

Re: encryption Help
Hi Brad,
You can package your DIR files as DXR's (protected format). To do this,
click on Xtras > Update Movies > Protect.
Check out this topic in Director's Help file for more info:
Using Director > Packaging Movies for Distribution > About distribution
formats

Re: encryption Help
Yes, you can protect your movies, which will convert them to dxr's
whic are basically unopenable.
check out the macromedia page:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/ts/documents/d7_update_movies.htm
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR MOVIES TO A SEPERATE FOLDER BEFORE
PROTECTNG THEM AS THE PROCESS OVERWRITES THE ORIGINALS!
sorry for shouting but this is perhaps the most important bit. several
people have learnt by trial and error that if you don't back up your
work first you can lose everything.
hope this helps,
richie

Re: encryption Help
You can protect your movies using the Xtras|Update Movie|Protect command.
Make sure that you have a back up copy of all of your .dir files before you
do this. Once the movie is protected you cannot get your lingo back.

This will ONLY protect your code. All media is easily extractable from a
protected cast or movie. dirOpener is one app that can do this. There are
other techniques to protect your media, such as bit and text encryption. On
screen images can also be copied with Printscreen.
Idéas is a bit more troublesome to protect.
