enctype="multipart/form-data"
I created a form with <input type="file"> and on the action page I put:
<CFFILE ACTION="Upload" FILEFIELD="path"
DESTINATION="D:\www-root\myapp\upload" NAMECONFLICT="MAKEUNIQUE">
When I used form tag like this (see below) I got error saying that my
filefiled attribute is empty/doesn't contain file:
<form action="Tackingaction.cfm" method="post" name="bugtrackform">
When I used:
<form action="Trackingaction.cfm" method="post" name="Trackform"
enctype="multipart/form-data">
I can upload a document.
So what is enctype="multipart/form-data"??? in my older application I did not
remember using this attribute and my cffile working just fine!
I'm still using CF 5.0 sicne 5 yrs ago and back end is MSSQL, can someone tell
me a little bit about this attribute? why sometime it is OK not using it and
sometimes throw me an error?

Re: enctype="multipart/form-data"
enctype="multipart/form-data">
This addition to the 'form' tag tells your browser, and then the server, that
the form will be sending a file along with the 'submit'. Without it, the file
will not be sent to the server.
Hope this helps,
William

Re: enctype="multipart/form-data"
The official word on multipart/form-data:
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2388.html
And from here:
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/interact/forms.html
The value "multipart/form-data" should be used in combination with the INPUT
element, type="file".
