    Default Enormous print file sizes

Recently when I go to print PDF files from my home computer (Windows XP Home Edition) the file sizes have become huge. The same PDF file that is approximately 622KB when I print it from my computer in the office (XP Pro) is 3.5MB when I print it from my home system. I have Acrobat Standard on my office system. I also run Acrobat Standard on my home system (along with Elements).

I tried uninstalling Acrobat Standard and Reader on my home system and reinstalling just Reader. Still encountered the same problem with large print files. I used to be able to easily print out this same file on my home system without problems. Now it takes a few minutes to download to the printer and print. I am using an HP Laserjet 1100 printer at home.

Default Re: Enormous print file sizes

It's possible that the printer at your office uses PostScript and the one at
home uses PCL. PostScript printers are given the page in a format closer to
vector data and the file is relatively small. It is up to the printer to
rasterize the image into a bitmap to be printed, and you don't see the size
    of that file.

PCL printers are given the rasterized version of the page. The PC does the
rasterizing and you will see the file size when the PC transfers that image
    to the printer.

Another possibility, "Print as image" is checked on your home version of
Acrobat. It can solve printing issues with certain printers but it takes
longer and will send a larger print file to the printer.
