EOS-10D LENS - Photography

Good day I am getting a Canon EOS-10D with a 24 to 85mm canon lens . Howerver I am looking to do quite a bit of sports photography so therefore I am looking to get a 70 to 300mm lens. I was about to get the Canon 70 - 300 usm III until I read all the reviews on the performance of this lens. What about a Sigma, Tamron or any other canon zoom . The price range I am looking at is no more then about 350 USD. I hear the 28 to 300 new Tamron lens produces great ...

    Default EOS-10D LENS

    Good day
    I am getting a Canon EOS-10D with a 24 to 85mm canon lens . Howerver I am
looking to do quite a bit of sports photography so therefore I am looking to
get a 70 to 300mm lens. I was about to get the Canon 70 - 300 usm III until
I read all the reviews on the performance of this lens. What about a Sigma,
Tamron or any other canon zoom . The price range I am looking at is no more
then about 350 USD. I hear the 28 to 300 new Tamron lens produces great
    results.
I have also read that some of the Sigma lens have to be modified in order to
    work with the 10D.
Finally, is it better to buy a 1 gig compact flash card or a 512mb card .
    I await your comments ....

    Cheers

    Hi Harold,

I get great results out of the 75-300mm mkIII (non USM, non IS) on the
10D... I have a friend with a Tamron 28-300 who got mediocre shots
with it (on film, on a new Nikon) and took it back for a 28-90 &
    75-300 in Nikon...

The Sigma 50-500 got a good rap for the S2 last night from a
photographer I know who does some brilliant shots...

I can direct you to a couple of football shots I took with the 75-300,
and some other stuff as well... drop me an email...

    Cheers,
    Stuart

get the 70-200 f4 L instead. do some research and you will find probably 80%
or more users end up selling the 75-300 and going for the "L". much sharper,
better contrast and colour, much better build quality, and much much MUCH
    faster AF.

    You really need 2 cards, either 2 x 1gig, 2 x 512meg, or combination of
    both.
