Default EPS Layer white to transparent

Adobe documentation provide a cryptic reference to converting white to transparent in an EPS format Layer. I would like to obtain more detailed information both as to how this conversion is actuated by command, and whether a Layer in EPS format can be imported/exported.

Default Re: EPS Layer white to transparent

Where do you see this documentation? Are you talking about a Photoshop eps or vector eps as saved by Illustrator? Photoshop eps does not support layers as far as I know.

A Photoshop eps in Bitmap(1 bit per channel) mode can be seen as transparent in a page layout program. Id that what you're referring to?
