EPS with transparent background - Macromedia Freehand

I don't know what happened all of a sudden. but now when i export an .eps i get a white square around my image. ie the .eps is not bounded by the edge of the artwork but by a white box. How do i get this back to a transparent background?...

unfortunately i'm forced to work on a pc. JUST found out this was a PC issue.
Was a little confused because i've done this a million times on my mac. Just
another reason why windoze sux. Thanks anyway.

...Is there any workaround for this?

also, is this a freehand thing or a quark thing?

    What is your final output?

Use a clipping path? Sometimes you can make a workable clipping path with
the trace tool set to outer edge. If the path hugs the image too tightly,
use Inset Path by negative amount to give it more breathing room.

The problem isn't Windows itself. Windows is quite better than than Mac O.S.

Your problem is with Freehand for Windows. This software is not a well
programmed application. Macromedia programmers are very lazy to create a
good application, because this reason Freehand for mac is better than
    Freehand
for Win. If you use Windows, there is no reason to be locked using Freehand
because CorelDraw is best software ever created.

Also you could try to save the EPS as PSD file with Photoshop. This will
keep the transparent background. Then import the PSD file to Freehand.

    Sincerely,
    Carlos
