    Thanx for the help. I ended up removing the raw devices and creating cooked
    chunks for the logical logs and tion started fine. So is it a bug in
    the linux kernel or Informix?

    Hi Tisha,
    The problem is that new Linux system require a specific buffer address
    aligment which was coded in the IDS 9.40.UC2 version.
    When you update to this version then you can use raw devices again.
