Erroneous interactive eBook links in IND - is this a known bug?
Hello
I'm suffering from erroneous interactive eBook links in IND.
Multiple unwanted windows appear from URL links.
I can't clear them.
Is this a known IND bug or is it me?
Thanks for your help.
I have a silly deadline and I don't know what to do!
Gill
PS thank you everyone who's helped so far

Re: Erroneous interactive eBook links in IND- is this a known bug?
Two issues:
1. The unwanted windows are in the browser, right? They're the result of your browser option being set to open a link in a new window. If they're empty, that suggests that some of your links are set to cause downloads.
2. The Hyperlink palette is one of the hardest to come to grips with. It is amazingly easy to end up with a bunch of hyperlinks that point at the wrong thing. Check that your misbehaving hyperlinks in your e-book PDF actually point to the right destination. The safe way to make hyperlinks is to explicitly make a destination for each. Relying on the shortcut mechanisms is an easy way to go astray.

Re: Erroneous interactive eBook links in IND- is this a known bug?
Many thanks Dave.
:-D
You're right that my own site opening up was something to do with my browser settings.
I seem to have reolved that one now.
My email link is still opening an empty Safari window.
I've looked in my email prefs but can't see anything relating to this.
If it's just my viewing settings that are the problem, I should be OK.
I wonder if I'm tired under pressure and worrying about nothing.

My email link is still opening an empty Safari window.
And that's inevitable. That's the way that links work at the system level. A link is passed to the browser which says "holy cow, this is an e-mail, better pass it off to the e-mail client." And that's why you get an empty window in Safari.

browser window first, it also starts up my email client with an empty,
already addressed message - just as expected.
Gill, have you checked that Safari is set to pass mailto: links to your
mail program?

I really like the thought of my browser saying "Holy Cow".
:-)
I can't seem to find an option in my Safari prefs re: mailto links.
Thank you everyone.
