Error 1409 installing Acrobat 8 on SystemError message 1409, installing Acrobat 8Professional on O

Have tried installing from the CD or copy files to HD and then install. Will not happen either way. Will get error message or will not open. Have tried uninstall etc. With uninstall, it will say that you must quit first before uninstall. Not sure what to do. CD was new from Amazon.
