Default Error Browsing through asp pages

I am running ASP on Win 2000 Professional, with IIS and PWS installed
I have localhost pages set to index.htm, it works fine. But while i
set to index.ASP page I get error "http 500 -internal server Error". I
already have checked for following
1. IIS is properly installed and is running OKay, PWS is also running
okay.
2. I tried to browse IIS Help as help is in on asp pages i get same
error.
3. I have checked if asp pages are in wwwroot folder, they seems to be
okay.
4. I also have checked with Directory Security, Server Extensions,
custom errors, As well have set execute permissions to scripts only.

I am totally confused about what to do next? Any suggestions?

I'm totally confused also. Why would you run IIS and PWS on the same box?
They're both running on port 80? How is that possible? You might want to
post your question in m.p.inetserver.iis because this doesn't appear to be
an ASP database issue. I would clarify running two web servers as you have
stated.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but i was able to get ridd off the error. After
i posted this message I searched Net for possible outcome for this
error. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301305
link mentions if norton antivirus is installed you may get this error.
I had Mcafee running though, i unstialled it and as well uninstalled
IIS. After installing fresh copy of IIS again in hardly had to
configure to start working on asp.

Answere to your queries:
1. My aplogies for selecting a wrong group, i was in hurry to and so i
mistakenly posted to this group but later on did the needful
2. PWS is a part of IIS, when i installed IIS on win 2000 through
add/remove components i also selected Personal web Manager as sub
component and thus it also got installed on my PC.

Everything is now working fine.

Thanks for your reply,

Ya', script hangs on the server and you never see it. Have to disable
script protection in McAfee and NAV.
Glad to hear you have it working. Thanks for the update.
