Error enabling swap device (upgrade RH 8->9) - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

I am trying to update redhat 8 to redhat 9. I have got a system with a hardware raid controller (mirroring, 2 HD) When I boot from the redhat 9 installation disk and after I selected upgrade the system, I get the following error: Error enabling swap device sda8: No such file or directory This most likely means that the swap partition has not been initialized. The only thing I can do is press OK, reboot system. What can be the problem? Is it posible to upgrade redhat 8 if the OS already running, or is it only possible to ...

Default Error enabling swap device (upgrade RH 8->9)

I am trying to update redhat 8 to redhat 9.

I have got a system with a hardware raid controller (mirroring, 2 HD)

When I boot from the redhat 9 installation disk and after I selected
upgrade the system, I get the following error:

Error enabling swap device sda8: No such file or directory
This most likely means that the swap partition has not been
    initialized.

The only thing I can do is press OK, reboot system.

    What can be the problem?

Is it posible to upgrade redhat 8 if the OS already running, or is it
only possible to boot the redhat 9 and upgrade it then?

Your /etc/fstab lists the swap device as /dev/sda8, which either does
not exist or has not been mkswap'ed (or for some reason RH9 can't see
it.) Try booting the RH9 disk in rescue mode, and do
    fdisk -l /dev/sda
