I had many ASP.NET web applications that I created before I had to
rebuild my machine. After a fresh install of XP Pro, VS.NET 2003,
etc, I now get the following when running them. Note that I've
already added the following to the web.config file just before the
<appsettings> section:

<supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/>
<requiredRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/>
</startup>

Here's the error (I've replaced the references to publickeytoken with
"*"):

I have this same problem.

It looks like it turned on SSL security for the whole web site... wild!
I Tried downloading Microsofts IIS 6.0 resource kit..

[url]http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=56fc92ee-a71a-4c73-b628-ade629c89499&DisplayLang=en[/url]

and then running the selfssl tool.... still no luck!

If you install IIS after you install .NET Framework, that's most of your problem... Run the following command from
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322

aspnet_regiis -i

It will install 1.1 version of ASP .NET and update scriptmaps for you.
