    Default error message 405

    Hello,
I need help soving my problem. I have created an asp login page that worked
on my computer using iis. I have now tried to change over to using a remote
testing server. Everytime I try to set up the DSN connection I get an error
that says "http error code 405 method not allowed". I don't get any choices in
the drop down field like I do when testing locally. I read that it could have
something to do with renaming pages or renaming a database, so I created a new
page and a new db on a new site and I still get the same error. It is almost
as if I am having trouble connecting to the server. If I play with the
settings in my site manager, I sometimes get a error404, but it still doesn't
    help me connect.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

If you are using IE, then goto Tools > Options, click on Advanced tab then
uncheck the box that says "Display friendly error messages", this will get
it to display a better error, helping you debug your problem.

    Thanks Drew,

I am not sure if that will help though. I am getting the error message from a
gui in dreamweaver (which to me seems really strange). Under the applications
window, databases tag, I click the plus button and select Data Source Name DSN.
When I switch the radio button at the bottom to "using dsn on testing server"
and click the DSN button .... the error appears in a little pop up window?!

Any ideas? I am completely stuck, I don't know what to do next.

Any suggestions will help at this point!

Sorry, I thought you were getting the error message in DW... Are you
completely sure that the DSN has been setup on the remote server?

Yes the DSN was set up on the server, but the access db file was corrupted.
I had someone come and help me out of my conundrum. I still don't fully
understand why I couldn't see the connection options, but that one database
seemed to mess up all of the ODBC connection to the webserver.
I think I am back on track now. Thanks so much for your time!

I do have one other question though.

I cannot test the site with dreamweaver open because it is hitting the
database (so the database, in turn, cannot also be accessed by ie or firefox).
Is that normal or do I have it set up wrong?

    Thanks,
    Dawn

Not sure on that one... I use SQL Server, so the file locking isn't a
problem like it was with Access... You may want to post a seperate
question, may have a better chance to get an answer.

Glad you got your other problem figured out.
