Default error message during RH 9 login

    Greetings all:
I'm newbie here, so please bear with me.

    I have a dual boot system w2k & RH9, w2k is in my MBR, sometime after I
login to Linux, I got the following error message:
Could not look up internet address for localhost.
This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly.
It may be possible to correct the problem by adding
    localhost to the file /etc/hosts.

I've add the following enty to my /etc/host file (originally it was empty):
    localhost 10.10.0.1

    my environment is:
RH9 server, dsl with dhcp (the ip address should be given by dns server,
how can I tell the system to get the ip address automatically from dns
    server of dsl provider?)

I remember seeing some where a posting about linux server & dsl is not
recommended, anybody has similar setup as mine?

All comments and suggestions is much appreciated.

    TIA

You have the order reversed. It should also look more like this.

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    10.10.0.1 hostname.your.domain hostname

Thanks so much for alerting me to my mistake, it seems solved the
problem, because it's random, I'll keep an eye for the error.

    Thanks
