Error messages
I keep getting this error message when I try to save a file. could not save as ******.*** because of a program error. If anyone knows what causes this please let me know.
To the people at adobe, it would be nice if you put in a trouble shooting section in the users manuals or at least a web page for error messages.

Emeril
You can't save a file with a '*' it as it is a reserved character in the
operating system it is not a fault of adobe. For what it is worth the
characters that are prohibited in file name are "* / \ : " ? < > '.
Well in windows and DOS base programs the are and I think the same is true
with Unix ... although not sure about Mac .

Re: Error messages
Grant thanks for the reply, I guess I didn't make myself clear the "******.***" was just used as an example of A file name any file name. I tried to save my files but I get that error message. Say the file name is abstract1.jpg or abstract1.tif it doesn't matter what I call the file or the type of file I try to save I get the same error message.
My system is a pent III with 288 meg of ram and an 80G hard drive as a scratch disk, plus another 80G HD for my programs and files.

Re: Error messages
Emeril,
Sounds like you may be trying to edit an image which is on a CD. If so, copy that image to your harddrive and then begin work on it.
If not, are you going to File>Save As? If you rename, you will produce a new file, if you don't, your original file will be overwritten. Can use the drop down list in Format to change the format to .psd or whatever.

Have not been able to use this program since Day 1. I keep getting the following message when I try to open:
"Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information."
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Re: Error messages
Meg, how about posting some additional information about the platform and OS you're running. Sometimes specifics don't help, but other times they do. Also let us know if you downloaded the software from the Adobe site or purchased the boxed retail version. And, did you ever use a demo of the program before buying it?

Re: Error messages
Meg,
I searched this forum for that error message and our Adobe guy, Rich C., offered this reply (the poster did not return to his/her results however)
"Usually a reinstall over the previous install will clear that up."

Beth,
I am using Windows 98 and purchased Photoshop Elements from a retailer. Did not use a demo before purchase.
Will try Nancy's advice to reinstall and will let you know the results. Thank you both.

Error Messages
I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro.
I'm am getting some very odd error messages when trying to use this software all of the sudden.
First of all, I CANNOT convert a document from any microsoft programs directly using the shortcut toolbars. I now have to get into AA 6.0 to do it.
Secondly, I occasionally get an error message that says something about the global template is affecting the normal template....it's several error messages I have to go through to get out of it and then it asks me if i want to save the "normal.dot".
Another error message I have been getting is :
Could not load object because it is not available on this machine.
Does anyone know what these error messages mean?

Re: Error Messages
First.. search gor and deleted Normal.Dot open word open a new page and close it and close Word. If asked if you want to save Normal say yes.
Word and Acrobat like to play hideand seek with the Acrobat buttons that sometime appear int he Word toolbar. Try converting a document by printing to the Adobe printer or by dragging and droping the document on to your acrobat Icon.
As for the not available message more information is required.

Error messages
:confused; About two months ago I got a new Apple G5 and moved everything from
my previous iMac to the new computer. Since then, when I use Contribute to
upload files, I very frequently (almost always) get the following error
messages:
"The server gave an unknown response. Please try the operation again or
contact your administrator." I click "OK" and since I am the administrator, I
try again. On the second try the upload goes through.
Or, sometimes I get this message:
"Access denied. The file may not exist or there could be a permission
problem." I click "ok" and since the file exists and there is not a permission
problem, I try again. On this try, I frequently get message number one about
"unknown response." So I try again and then the upload goes through.
Not only am I frustrated by this, I am also worried that sometime the program
will just crash for good. What's going on, please?
Other possible factors. When I got my new computer, my husband replaced his
old computer with my former computer (the one I used to use with Contribute).
At the same time we put a network card in his computer (my old one) and a
gateway modem for mine and are now wireless. I do all of the Contribute work
on my computer using version 3.1 but yesterday we tried using my husband's
computer (which still has the 3.0 version) just to see whether it would respond
better but it gave us the same message problems that I have on the new computer.

Line 159 Col 10 : Split up tags that overlapped a <div> ... </div> pair.
Line 163 Col 10 : Split up tags that overlapped a <div> ... </div> pair.

Line 291 Col 12 : Split up tags that overlapped a <div> ... </div> pair.
It says it split up tags that overlapped, which I assume it means it fixed the
problem, but it keeps popping up when ever I open the file. Why and how do I
fix it ???? Thanks.:confused;
