Error msg: Bad foreign object reference
I am using Acrobat Std v. 6.0.1 11/3/2003 to create PDF files from MS Word files or web pages and email them to others over the Internet. Recipients report that they cannot open these files.
I have since confirmed that people using v. 5.0 of Acrobat Reader get the following error message when they attempt to open the PDF file: Bad foreign object reference.
No reference to this error message in Acrobat help file or Knowledgebase. Google hasn't turned up a reference either. Any ideas as to what's causing this problem?

Doug, did you already resolve the issue? I am having the exact problem.
Does acrobat have a compatibility issue? Team-Acrobat ... any comments?

Re: Error msg: Bad foreign object reference
I do not know if the problem has been resolved yet. I attempted a repair of my Acrobat installation but it generated no indication that I had a problem and it was fixed by the repair. I have been trying to use other methods to work around this problem until I saw some more technical information on this list or elsewhere. I have not seen any other discussion of this problem in this list or elsewhere.

Re: Error msg: Bad foreign object reference
strange ...
opened up the file in acro5 and saved it - no changes. now it works. i have to check what version of 6 that file was created in - but this sure sounds like a compatibility issue.
