Error printing to postscript

hi

i'd noticed this irritating symptom:

when i print my file to postscript using FHMX, it'll indicate printing page
1...in progress.
after completing, i checked the size of the .ps file, the file keeps
increasing in size and i need to wait until the number stops before i can use
distiller to create a pdf.

why is this happening?

i'm using FHMX 11.0.2 on OS10.3.3 on eMac 800mhz 512mb ram

The OS is writing the PS file in the background, because you have
Background Printing turned on. This is not a bad thing. It allows the
application you are printing from to be freed up while the writing of
the file is done by the OS. You can actually start the distilling
process earlier, you just have to time it right so that Distiller
doesn't catch up to the file being written. If you open up the Print
Center you will see it being written.
