Error: rangecheck - Offending command: dict
I cannot print a draft newsletter. This error message prints on the paper instead:
ERROR: rangecheck
OFFENDING COMMAND: dict
STACK:
-14355
/GlyphDirectory
/ArialUnicodeMS-KSCms-UHC-H+
/ArialUnicodeMS-KSCms-UHC-H-Identity-H
/ArialUnicodeMS-KSCms-UHC-H
I checked the forum but most messages are about PDFs. One person said to select Postscript Level 1, but my only option is Level 2.
I have InDesign 2.02, Windows XP and am printing to an HP laser jet 4MV. I'm using True Type Poster Bodoni BT and Humanist521 BT.
I created this newsletter by copying last month's and placing new text and photos in this month's. Last month's newsletter prints fine as do other InDesign files. I thought the problem might be with links, but I corrected them all and this is still happening.
I'm obviously doing something wrong. This is only my fourth InDesign project. I've never used the dictionary if that is what "dict" means. Any suggestions?

Error: rangecheck - Offending command: dict
I don't speak Postscript, but the error message seems to be telling you
there is a problem with Arial, and you don't appear to be using it. So use
Find Font to locate any Arial characters and either delete them or change
them to a font you are using.
Have you imported any text that could be specified in a font not present on
your machine?

Ken -
It worked! I used Find Font and found some paragraph returns that were Arial. The newsletter prints fine now. Thanks so much.

Re: Error: rangecheck - Offending command: dict
This is a good reminder to do a preflight (File > Preflight) before printing. Preflight would have caught the missing font.

I did a preflight, and it indicated a problem with links. I fixed them but now realize I should have read further. This was the first time I used preflight. Since getting your message, I reread the preflight section in Sandee Cohen's book. It says to click on each category, which I didn't do! I'll pay more attention next time. Thanks.
